A Cristiano Ronaldo fired more shots than the entire Uruguay squad. But the experiments of the Portuguese star did not produce anything.
Ronaldo lead Portugal against Uruguay in the Fisht Olympic Stadium, in the final 16 of the 2018 World Cup. Portugal are more trying to take the initiative after kick-off, but Uruguay survived so persistent.
having created several chances at the start of the fight, Portugal even missed by Edinson Cavani in the seventh minute. Goals that allow Uruguay to control the game, until the end of Portugal must recognize the victory of the opponent with a score of 1-2.
Portugal recorded 20 shots off 90 minutes, well above Uruguay who just release five attempts. The number of Uruguay shots was even lost to a trial that Ronaldo released alone (!).
Ronaldo fired a total of six shots. But be aware, only one of that number that leads to the goal. Ronaldo himself like missing in the game, deadlock in the middle of the Uruguayan defense discipline.
Portugal in the end was able to score a goal by Pepe’s header, but less efficient than Uruguay. Portugal scored one goal from five shots on target and a total of 20 trials. While Uruguay just need five shots with three right on target to make two goals.
That’s why Uruguay escaped while Portugal were knocked out. Uruguay will next face France in the quarterfinals.
