Colombia managed to keep up the race to keep going far in the 2018 World Cup. That struggle they live when beat Poland 3-0 in the second matchday Group H 2018 World Cup in Kazan Arena
Team nicknamed La Tricolor opened the scoring in the 40th minute through Yerry Mina goal, who closed the first half with a score of 1-0. Two additional goals scored in the second half through the legs Falcao and Juan Cuadrado.
Falcao looked emotional in celebrating his goal, which was his first goal in the World Cup, after in 2014 sidelined Colombia due to a severe injury.
Colombian coach Jose Pekerman welcomed a goal from Falcao. Moreover, the Colombian captain is a symbol of the national team and Colombian football.
“I think (Falcao’s goal) is one of the greatest excitements we have received tonight – he is a symbol of the national team and the symbol of Colombian football,” Pekerman said as quoted from FIFA’s official website.
“We always hope he can score goals and keep fit like today, we want to help him on a team so he can show all his skills and shine,” he continued.
Pekerman hopes that the goal can make Falcao’s confidence grow bigger. Moreover, Colombia will undergo a live-off match with Senegal on Matchday 3 on 28 June 2018.
“I think the fact that today he scored is very important not only for today’s game but for the match in the future,” he hoped.
Colombia are currently collecting three points and are third, losing a point from Japan and Senegal in the top two of Group H standings.
