Nigeria Defender’s Ambition to End Messi’s Travel in Russia

Nigeria Defender's Ambition to End Messi's Travel in RussiaArgentina and Nigeria will undergo a death match in the group phase of the 2018 World Cup. Nigeria player, Brian Idowu, determined this must be the last game of Lionel Messi in Russia.

Nigeria is currently second in Group D with three points. Super Eagles two points ahead of Iceland and Argentina are sequentially there in the third and fourth positions.

The group phase left one more game and Nigeria have to face Argentina at Saint Petersburg Stadium. The losing team in this match will certainly be eliminated from the World Cup.

The Nigerian defender, Idowu, is ambitious to give a nightmare to Argentina captain Messi at the 2018 World Cup. One way is to defeat Argentia, which will also make Nigeria advance to the last 16.

“It will be our main target – making it his last game (Messi) in the World Cup,” Idowu said in a press conference ahead of the game as quoted from Four Four Two.

“No matter how much we love to see Messi, he plays against us so we have only one option,” he continued.

“Of course I want to exchange jersey with him, but there are many other players I want to exchange jersey from the Argentina team,” Idowu added.

Idowu’s statement goes against the Nigerian coach, Gernot Rohr. According to Rohr, it could even make Messi more motivated to win.

“No, we do not think about that We are focused on our game We have a great player, Messi Everybody loves him – I personally and all our team,” said Rohr.

“The question for us is not whether this is the last World Cup match for him or not, the question is we have to qualify,” he continued.

“We are here not to see him play, we are here to get results We are professional and have to defend jersey Nigeria In football, there is no mercy, you do not have to give a gift – even if you like that player,” Rohr asserted.
