The “I Really Do not Care” jacket worn by Melania Trump while visiting immigrant children at the US-Mexico border on Thursday (21/6/2018), is controversial. The FLOTUS is considered insensitive to the issue of immigrants who became a major polemic in his country.
A number of designers were also voiced his criticism in a creative way. They designed an inspired outfit from Zara’s parka jacket, with ‘I Really Do not Care, Do U?’ that.
But the writing was changed to a contradictory sentence. Pop City, a New Orleans-based company, released a green army T-shirt that read ‘I Really Do Care, Do U?’ with the exact same font as Melania Trump’s jacket.
The T-shirts sell for $ 25. Part of the T-shirt sale will be donated to the non-profit Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) in Texas.
Another company, Wildfang, is also doing the same thing. Is a T-shirt and a bomber jacket, it says ‘I Really Care, Do not You?’, Also with the same font.
T-shirts are present in black and green olive is sold USD 40 or USD 563 thousands, while the jacket bomber USD 98. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the same institution.
“My heart was crushed by the photos of the children (immigrants) at the detention center.Yesterday I opened a news app and saw Melania’s jacket and it was terrible. We want to convey the message, clearly, how we feel about immigrants and their human rights,” said Wildffang CEO Emma McIlroy
He expects sales of its products can reach USD 50,000 until next month. The money from the sale will be donated to RAICES.
