Croatia managed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup semi-finals after defeating Russia. After a 2-2 draw for 120 minutes, Croatia triumphed 4-3 on penalties.
Croatia will face England in a semi-final which will take place at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, on 12 July. The other semi-final brings together France with Belgium.
Compared to other semi-finalists, Croatia may be called the least number of stars. The Croatian defender, Dejan Lovren, claimed that the statsus would be an advantage.
“I thought we were underdogs from day one and that was good for us,” Lovren said on ESPN FC.
“If you were with all these teams, France, Belgium, England, they were all top teams from the start and we were underdogs, maybe we could change something,” he added.
