It was reported that the passenger bus first collided with a car before falling into the river. The car that collided was reportedly deliberately speeding up against the flow of traffic.

After colliding, the bus shook and hit the bridge barrier and finally plunged into the Yangtze River below.

A number of rescuers were quoted as saying by China’s national radio that the bus sank into the river and is estimated to be at 80 meters deep.

Local radio reports said there were more than 10 people, including the driver, on the bus when the accident occurred. Two bodies of dead victims have been found rescuers.
