Reporting from Malaysian media, New Strait Times, Sunday (29/07/2018), only one passenger who survived the accident in the district of Raigad, Maharashtra state.
The bus took Dapoli Agricultural University staff to Mahabaleshwar for a picnic, Raigad district administrator Vijay Suryawanshi told AFP as quoted by the New Strait Times.
“We have confirmed 33 deaths and only one person survived the bus accident, our team is trying to evacuate the bodies of the victims,” Anupam Srivastava, commander of India’s National Disaster Relief Force, told AFP.
“The survivors managed to alert the officer about the death and the accident,” he added.
Police say slippery mountain areas make roads a danger. Earlier this month, 48 people were killed and many others were seriously injured in northern India when crowded buses hit a ravine in the foothills of the Himalayas.
